Reverse description A cow or bull kneeling to the left, rendered in a crouching posture with head turned back, occupying the lower portion of the field. Above the animal, a kantharos (drinking vessel with high loop handles) is depicted prominently in the upper central field. The ethnic inscription ΚΑΡΥ appears in the upper field, identifying the issuing city of Carystos in Euboea. The design is enclosed within a plain incuse square, typical of early Hellenistic hammered coinage.
