Kromna was one of several small Paphlagonian coastal cities that exercised brief autonomous coinage rights during the fourth century BC, likely tied to periods when Achaemenid administrative grip loosened following the campaigns of Agesilaus and the instabilities that preceded Macedonian expansion into Asia Minor. The city disappears from the coinage record entirely after the region fell under firm Macedonian and then Bithynian control — making this a type with a hard historical terminus, not merely an approximate one.
