Additional information

Side was one of the most commercially active ports in Pamphylia, and its coinage reflects that independence — the city maintained its own silver standard and iconographic program well into the period when neighboring mints were capitulating to Seleucid or Attalid influence. The SNG France 724 reference places this piece within a well-documented sequence, though die linkage studies by Mørkholm and others have shown the series spans a wider chronological range than the 150-year window typically assigned.
