背面描述 Draped bust of Persephone facing left, her hair bound with a wreath of grain ears, befitting her role as goddess of the harvest and the underworld. She wears a pendant earring and a necklace, rendered with fine detail typical of the skilled engravers active at Kamarina in the late fourth century BC. The field is plain, and the monogram or signature letters EY appear in the field, likely referencing the engraver or a mint official.

附加信息

Kamarina was destroyed twice — by Gelon of Syracuse in 484 BC and again by Carthage in 405 BC — before being refounded and briefly flourishing in its final independent phase. This drachm belongs to that last period of civic coinage, struck after the Corinthian general Timoleon expelled the Carthaginians and helped restore several Sicilian cities in the 340s BC. The city was obliterated for good by Rome's ally Syracuse around 258 BC during the First Punic War, leaving this series with a hard terminus.

The Westermark and Jenkins corpus remains the definitive study of Kamarinaean coinage, and specimen 207 falls within a tightly attributed late group distinguished by specific die linkages.
