The head of the winged horse is depicted with a distinctly modified, somewhat stylized treatment characteristic of the Emporitanian series. The Greek ethnic legend ΕΜΠΟΡΙΤΩΝ ('of the Emporítans') is inscribed in the lower exergual area, identifying the issuing city. The overall composition is strongly influenced by the Corinthian stater tradition, adapted by the local Iberian mint. |
