| Obverse description | Radiate head facing right, rendered in high relief with pronounced sun-ray crown emanating boldly from the skull in the Hellenistic tradition; the facial features — strong jaw, prominent nose, and deeply set eye — have been associated by some scholars with a portrait of Pompey the Great. The style is vigorous yet somewhat provincial, characteristic of late Hellenistic Pontic and Colchian coinage. No legend or border appears on the obverse, the entire field being occupied by the large radiating effigy. |

| Reverse description | Tyche seated right upon a throne or rocky ground, her draped figure rendered in schematic Hellenistic style. She holds in her extended right hand a grounded rudder, symbolising her role as guardian of fortune and navigation, and in her left hand a round vessel or phiale. The Greek inscription filling the field reads APIΣTAPXOY / TOV / EΠI KOΛXIΔOΣ, identifying the eponymous magistrate Aristarchos, governor over Colchis; the date letters BI (= year 22, equating to circa 47/46 BC within the local Pontic era) appear in the exergue. |
