The shield is set within an inner circle formed by a beaded or rope border. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic uncial characters, reads FRANCISCVS FRANCORVM R E, identifying Francis I as King of France, separated by decorative stops. |

| Opis rewersu | A bold Latin cross occupies the center of the field, with its arms extending nearly to the inner beaded border, creating four cantons each containing a crowned letter or heraldic emblem — the letters F and K (or similar royal cipher devices) are visible in the quarters. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial script reads SIT NOMEN DNI BENEDICTVM, the pious Scriptural invocation 'Blessed be the name of the Lord.' Mint marks and punctuation stops separate the legend elements along the outer rim. |
