Obverse description Crowned écu of France bearing three fleurs-de-lis, positioned centrally in the field with the legend commencing at 19 o'clock. The royal title is rendered in Latin around the periphery, with the date (millésime) incorporated into the legend. The mint workshop letter appears in exergue, below the shield.

Reverse description A fleurdelisée cross, with each arm terminating in fleurs-de-lis, occupying the full field of the coin. The devotional Latin legend encircles the design, reading from a star at lower left. The design is characteristic of the hammered billon douzain coinage of the Valois monarchy.
