| 裏面の説明 | A floriated or scalloped cross with concave sides fills the central field, the four cantons alternately charged with a crown (first and fourth) and a dolphin (second and third). A pious Latin legend encircles the design, incorporating the date 1589 and the mintmark, with a rose serving as an opening mark. |

Henri III was assassinated by Jacques Clément on August 1, 1589, making production of his final coinage issues a matter of weeks at most. The douzain au dauphiné second type was among the last billon denominations struck under his authority, and examples from mints still operating in royalist-held territory in early 1589 are particularly difficult to attribute with certainty — the Wars of Religion had fractured both supply chains and mint administration across France.
Dy 1144 distinguishes this second type from its predecessor primarily by the crown form above the central motif. Die rust and weak fields are endemic to late-reign billon production under Henri III, a consequence of stretched mint resources rather than careless workmanship.
