| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a quartered heraldic shield occupies the central field: the first and fourth quarters bear the arms of modern Burgundy (semé-de-lis with a bordure), while the second and third quarters display the arms of ancient Burgundy (bendily). The shield is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of Burgundian coinage of the mid-fifteenth century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner circle, separated by a beaded border. |
