| Obverse description | Three fleurs-de-lis arranged within a trilobe or trefoil-shaped inner field, enclosed by a beaded inner circle. The royal lilies are rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of late medieval French hammered coinage. A circumferential legend in uncial Latin letters surrounds the central device, reading the king's title and name. The overall composition reflects the heraldic tradition of the French royal arms as used in Provencal mint issues of Louis XII. |
