Obverse description Bust of Louis XIII facing right, laureate and draped, enclosed within an inner circle. The king is depicted with curled hair and a lace collar, rendered in the restrained style characteristic of early seventeenth-century French hammered coinage. A Latin legend encircles the effigy between the inner circle and the coin's rim, identifying the monarch as King of France and Navarre.
