| Reverse description | Three fleurs-de-lis arranged in a 2-1 formation occupy the central field, serving as the principal heraldic device of the French royal arms. The fleurs-de-lis are boldly struck in high relief against a granular copper field. A circular Latin legend encircles the design, separated from the central motif by a beaded inner border, reading DOVBLE. TOVRNOIS. with the date 1639, beginning with a cross pattee. The overall composition is characteristic of the Double Tournois type issued under Louis XIII, with the mint mark H for La Rochelle visible within the legend. |
