Reverse description Three fleurs-de-lis arranged in a triangular formation within a beaded inner circle, two in chief and one in base, representing the traditional arms of France. The fleurs-de-lis are rendered in the bold, stylized manner characteristic of hammered copper coinage of the period. The peripheral legend includes the denomination name and the date (millesime), reading around the coin from the top. Two legend varieties are recorded, distinguished by the presence or absence of a terminal stop after the date.
