| Obverse description | Juvenile laureate and draped bust of Louis XIII facing right, set within a raised inner circle. The king is depicted wearing a laurel wreath and a ruffled collar, rendered in low relief consistent with early hammered coinage. The circumferential legend reads LOVIS XIII R DE FRAN ET NAV K, abbreviated for 'Louis XIII, King of France and Navarre,' with the mint mark K (for Bordeaux) positioned at the base of the design. The border is composed of a row of closely spaced beads forming a denticulated rim. |
