Obverse description Draped and armored laureate bust of Louis XIII facing three-quarters to the right, portrait in the style introduced by engraver Jean Warin. The legend commences at approximately 7 o'clock and runs clockwise without an encircling border. Various mint differents appear within or adjacent to the legend depending on the emission. The portrait displays characteristic early Bourbon royal effigy conventions with pauldron armor and laurel wreath.
