Obverse description Draped bust of Louis XIII facing right, depicted as a young king with ruffled collar, occupying the central field. The effigy is rendered in a relatively crude style typical of early hammered copper coinage of the period. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, with multiple die varieties recorded. The legend identifies the king as Louis XIII, by the grace of God, King of France and Navarre.
