| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays three fleurs-de-lis arranged in a trefoil pattern within a raised inner circle, emblematic of the French royal arms. The fleurs-de-lis are rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of late medieval French coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin script runs along the outer border, reading LVDOVICVS FRANCORVM REX (Louis, King of the Franks), introduced by a cross pattee. The overall design is typical of the double tournois type struck under Louis XI, with a slightly irregular flan resulting from hand hammering. |
