Obverse description Central field displays two ermine spots arranged vertically and separated by a plain cross, with the mint mark letters NA and NT positioned on either side of the cross and each pair flanked by small crosses. The surrounding circular legend reads in Latin within a beaded or plain border. The design is characteristic of the feudal coinage of Brittany, executed in the rough hammered style typical of mid-14th century French provincial mints. The ermine charges are emblematic of the ducal arms of Brittany. The overall flan is irregular, with weakly struck areas consistent with hand-struck billon coinage of the period.
