Obverse description Central field bearing three ermine spots arranged in a triangular grouping, the heraldic emblem of the Duchy of Brittany, all within a plain inner circle. The design is struck in the crude, irregular style characteristic of late 14th-century hammered billon coinage. A Latin circular legend runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by the inner circle.
