The cross is boldly struck in high relief against a flat field. A surrounding legend in uncial Latin letters identifies the denomination. The coin's irregular flan edge, typical of hammered coinage, is visible around the periphery. The design follows the established tournois double denier type current in the ecclesiastical mints of northeastern France during the mid-14th century. |
