| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Henri IV facing right, with short hair and a lace ruff collar, rendered in a somewhat crude hammered style typical of provincial French mints of the late 16th century. The royal effigy occupies the central field, with the legend surrounding the portrait along the coin's periphery. The bust displays the king in a naturalistic, if stylized, portrait manner consistent with contemporary coinage of the French Wars of Religion period. |
