Reverse description Three fleurs-de-lis arranged 2 and 1 in the field, without an inner circle. The legend commences at 12 o'clock, introduced by a cross, and runs clockwise around the periphery without an encircling border. The denomination and date appear in the legend, accompanied by mint marks and privy marks varying by issue. The mintmaster's mark is that of Jehan de Sossiondo (active 1587-1591), identified as a shell, appearing on the later issues of this type.
