Reverse description Three fleurs-de-lis arranged in a triangular pattern occupy the central field, a heraldic device closely associated with the French royal house and the princes of Dombes. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads DOVBLE TOVRNOIS 1635 B, denoting the denomination, date, and mint mark. The overall composition is characteristic of the Double Tournois type struck at the Trévoux mint under Gaston d'Orléans.
