Obverse description Central field displays three fleurs-de-lis arranged in 2-1 formation within a trilobe or trefoil inner circle, enclosed by a beaded border. The fleurs-de-lis are rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of Valois royal coinage. The surrounding circular legend in Latin reads the royal titulature of Francis I, King of France, separated by stops or colons.
