Château-Regnault was a tiny principality on the Meuse in the Ardennes, and its right to strike copper coinage was perpetually contested by the French crown. Francis of Bourbon-Conti, who held the title during this period, exploited that right aggressively — the Double Tournois series he produced across multiple types reflects sustained local minting activity rather than occasional issue. The 18th type designation in the CGKL sequence indicates just how prolific that output was.
The principality was suppressed and its coinage rights extinguished not long after this series ended.
