| 表面の説明 | Within a trilobed inner circle, the arms of the Dauphiné are displayed: two fleurs-de-lis flanking a central dolphin, all arranged in a shield-like composition. The design is characteristic of the regional Dauphiné coinage struck under Louis XII, rendered in the rough, hand-struck style typical of late medieval French billon issues. A circular Latin legend surrounds the trilobe, separated by a crowned fleur-de-lis at the opening. |

Louis XII inherited the Dauphiné as part of the French royal domain, and coins struck for that province retained their regional identity even under centralized Valois rule. The double tournois issued for Dauphiné under his reign was produced at the Crémieu mint, one of the smaller provincial ateliers that continued operating under royal authority partly to satisfy local circulation demand and partly as a political accommodation to regional tradition.
Dy 686 is among the thinner documented types in the Dauphiné billon series, reflecting the chronic debasement pressures that afflicted French small change throughout the Italian Wars period.
