Obverse description Central field displays a large fleur-de-lis, the heraldic emblem of the French monarchy, rendered in bold relief within a round inner circle. The fleur-de-lis is flanked by decorative foliate scrollwork characteristic of late medieval hammered coinage. The surrounding legend reads +KAROLVS FRANCORV REX (Charles, King of the French) in Gothic Lombardic capitals along the outer border. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, typical of mid-15th century French billon production. The overall style reflects the simplified aesthetic of low-denomination royal tournois coinage under Charles VII.
