Aymon of Savoy ruled the county for just six years before his death in 1343, and his monetary output reflects a reign too short for extensive coinage programs. The double tournois type he adopted closely followed the French royal model, a deliberate alignment with Capetian monetary conventions that smaller lords across the Rhône corridor used to ease trade friction with the dominant French monetary zone.
