Reverse description A cross pattee with a fleur-de-lis terminating each arm, dividing the field into four quarters. In the opposing angles of the cross appear alternately two crowns and two dolphins, the dolphins referencing the Dauphine regional issue. The date and mint mark appear within the legend. The overall composition is characteristic of French billon coinage of the late Valois period, with a bold quartered design filling the flan.
