| Obverse description | Central field displays the royal crowned monogram 'H' of Henry III, flanked on either side by a fleur-de-lis, with a third fleur-de-lis positioned below. A large royal crown surmounts the monogram, rendered in the ornate late Renaissance style typical of Valois coinage. The circular Latin legend surrounding the design reads the king's titles. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, characteristic of hammered billon coinage of this period. |
