Obverse description Central floriated cross with trefoil terminals at each arm, enclosed within a plain inner circle. The cross is boldly struck in high relief against a flat field. The circumferential Latin legend reads + LVDOVICVS. COMES, running between the inner circle and the outer beaded border. The hammered flan is irregular in shape, consistent with 13th-century feudal coinage practice.
