| Obverse description | Bearded bust of Emperor Julian II facing right, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered with fine engraving characteristic of the Nicomedian mint. The effigy displays Julian's distinctive short beard, a deliberate iconographic reference to his Hellenistic philosophical identity. The paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder with a circular fibula. The obverse legend surrounds the bust in the field, reading D N IVLIANVS NOB CAES. |

| Reverse description | A bull standing right with head turned to face the viewer, rendered in high relief, symbolising Julian's pagan beliefs and his veneration of the Mithraic or Apollonian cult. Two six-pointed stars appear in the upper field, one on each side above the bull's back. The reverse legend SECVRITAS REI PVB ('Security of the State') is inscribed around the type. In the exergue, the mint signature of Nicomedia appears flanked by palm branches on each side, with officina letters identifying the specific workshop. |
