In his right hand he holds a military standard (vexillum or labarum), and in his left hand he holds a Victory on a globe, symbolizing Roman imperial triumph. The reverse legend VICTORIA ROMANORVM arcs around the upper field, proclaiming the Victory of the Romans. A mintmark and officina letter, separated by dots, appear in the exergue, identifying the Thessalonica mint and its respective workshop.
