| 裏面の説明 | Emperor Jovian stands facing, head turned to the right, draped and cuirassed, in a commanding frontal military pose. In his right hand he holds a tall legionary standard (vexillum), while his left hand presents a Victory figure perched atop a globe, the Victory holding a wreath and palm branch. The reverse legend VICTORIA - ROMANORVM is divided on either side of the emperor, and the mint mark CONSPA appears in the exergue, identifying this as the product of the first officina at Constantinople. The composition reflects the late Roman imperial iconography emphasizing military triumph and divine favor. |

Jovian's reign lasted barely eight months — long enough only to negotiate a humiliating peace with Shapur II that surrendered Nisibis and fifteen other Mesopotamian fortresses, the greatest territorial concession Rome had made in generations. He died in February 364, almost certainly from charcoal fume asphyxiation while sleeping in a freshly plastered room at Dadastana, before ever reaching Constantinople.
The Constantinopolis mint's output for this type is consequently among the thinnest of any fourth-century workshop, cut short mid-reign.
