| Obverse description | Laureate and draped right-facing effigy of Louis XIV with long flowing curled wig, engraved in high relief in the style of Joseph Roëttiers. The king's portrait is rendered with fine baroque detail, the laurel wreath interwoven with the abundant hair. The date 1694 appears in the lower exergue beneath the bust. The circular Latin legend runs along the inner border of the milled edge. |
