| Description de l’avers | Laureate and draped right-facing effigy of Louis XIV, King of France, rendered in high relief with elaborately flowing long hair. The truncation of the bust is sharply cut, and the portrait reflects the mature, imperious style characteristic of Joseph Roëttiers. The date 1702 appears in the lower field below the bust, flanked by decorative stops. The circular Latin legend reads LVD XIIII D G FR ET NAV REX, identifying the king as Louis XIV, by the grace of God King of France and Navarre. The coin is struck within a finely toothed border. |

| Description du revers | Central cross formed by eight interlaced Ls, the royal cipher of Louis XIV, arranged in pairs at each arm of the cross, with fleurs-de-lis at the terminals. A crowned shield bearing the arms of France (three fleurs-de-lis) appears at the base, and crowned shields of France and Navarre flank the cross at left and right. The mint mark K (Bordeaux) is enclosed within a small circle at the center of the cross. Four crowned scepters and four crowned orbs fill the angles between the arms of the cross. The circular Latin legend CHRS REGN VINC IMP — Christus Regnat, Vincit, Imperat — surrounds the entire design within a toothed border. |
