Reverse description Central ornamental cross formed by four interlaced capital H-monograms, with the mint mark C at the centre intersection, surmounted by a royal crown at the top arm. In the angles of the cross appear two crescent moons (upper left and lower right) and two fleurs-de-lis (upper right and lower left), all emblematic personal devices of Henry II. The date 1553 is incorporated into the circular Latin legend, which runs around the periphery within a beaded border.
