| Reverse description | Central device consists of a floriated cross with fleurs-de-lis terminating each arm, set upon a decorative staff or column rising from a small base, creating a cross fleury composition typical of French écu coinage of the period. Four curved foliate branches or lily sprays fill the angles between the cross arms, lending a rich, symmetrical appearance to the field. The date 1587 appears within the circumferential Latin devotional legend, which is struck between a toothed inner and outer border. The engraving is bold and well-centered, consistent with the quality of Trévoux mint production under the Dombes principality. |
