| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain Greek cross pattée dominates the central field, its four arms terminating in small crowns or crown-like ornaments, a design device emblematic of royal Aquitanian issues of Edward III. The cross divides the field into four quarters and is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in uncial Gothic script identifies the denomination as the Double Denier. The overall design is characteristic of the féodal billon coinage of English-held Gascony, struck on a broad, irregularly shaped flan. |
