Obverse description Crowned royal shield of France semé of fleurs-de-lis, flanked on each side by a crowned H monogram; a radiant sun appears above the shield. The date 1589 is inscribed within the legend, with the mint workshop letter appearing in the exergue. The entire composition is enclosed by a beaded inner circle framing the circular Latin legend.
