Obverse description Within a trilobe border with pointed cusps, the heraldic shield of Lorraine — bearing a bend charged with alérions — displayed centrally in the field. The shield is rendered in a Gothic style typical of 14th-century feudal coinage. A circular legend in Latin Gothic lettering surrounds the central device, separated from the trilobe by a plain inner border. The overall composition is characteristic of the hammered ducal coinage of Lorraine under Raoul.

Reverse description A sword oriented point downward occupies the central field, flanked on either side by a small escutcheon bearing the arms of Lorraine. Above each flanking shield appears a trefoil ornament. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which a Latin legend runs continuously around the periphery, separated by word stops. The composition reflects the standard typology of Nancy municipal coinage of the mid-14th century.
