| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a seated, nimbed figure of the Virgin Mary shown in three-quarter view, enveloped in flowing drapery and surrounded by an elaborate glory of fine radiating rays, seated upon clouds. She holds a rosary in her left hand and gestures with her right. To the right of the field stands a detailed representation of the sanctuary tower or lantern of the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca or a similar Bolognese devotional edifice, alluding to the Bologna mint's local religious tradition. The mint mark 'B' appears at the base, and the Latin legend AVXILIVM DE SANCTO curves along the periphery. |
