Obverse description Central papal coat of arms displayed on an ornate cartouche, featuring the quartered escutcheon of Pius VII (Chiaramonti family arms) surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield is flanked by elaborate acanthus scrollwork and foliate branches. The circular legend reads PIVS VII P M A XVIII, with the mint mark visible at the base of the design. The overall composition is rendered in high relief in the Neoclassical style characteristic of early 19th-century papal coinage.
