| Reverse description | Reverse of the dolphin-shaped cast bronze piece, depicting the underside of the cetacean form. A circular eye device is prominent near the head, accompanied by the Greek letters Theta (Θ) and upsilon (υ) incuse in the field to the left of the eye, serving as a control mark or ethnic abbreviation. The tail flukes are clearly rendered, and the surface retains a green patination consistent with prolonged burial. The inscription is characteristic of Olbian civic issues of the late fifth century BC. |
