Obverse description Large relief depiction of the Liberty Bell at center, showing the characteristic crack and clapper, with inscriptions on the bell body. The dates 1776 and 1876 flank the bell in the field to left and right respectively, and the legend LIBERTY BELL appears above the bell. A circular border legend reads PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT THE LAND UNTO ALL THE INHABITANTS THEREOF, with LEV. XXV. VX. in the lower exergue and a six-pointed star at the base. A suspension hole is pierced at the top of the medal.
