Obverse description Draped bust of Liberty facing right, with flowing hair elaborately arranged and secured by a ribbon, occupying the central field. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged in an arc around the periphery, seven to the left and six to the right of the effigy. The legend LIBERTY appears in the upper field along the rim, and the date is positioned in the exergue below the bust. The design is executed in high relief after the style of Gilbert Stuart's portrait, as adapted by engraver Robert Scot.
