Additional information

The Solomon Islands has issued commemorative coinage under licensing agreements with major entertainment properties since the early 2000s, using its sovereign minting authority to produce pieces with no domestic circulation function whatsoever. This Donald Duck issue is one of dozens of such releases — gold-plated iron rather than struck precious metal, which places it firmly in the novelty collectibles market despite the legal tender designation.

Charles III's effigy appears on these pieces by virtue of the Solomon Islands' membership in the Commonwealth, making him the nominal issuing authority on a Disney-licensed trinket.
