| Beschrijving keerzijde | The convex reverse presents a dramatic scene of the lunar surface depicting a lone astronaut in a spacesuit standing in the central field, flanked to the left by a planted American flag and to the right by the Apollo Lunar Module with its characteristic landing legs resting on the moon's cratered terrain. A sweeping shadow cast by the astronaut extends toward the lower foreground, adding depth and perspective to the composition. The upper border carries the legend 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' in an arc, with the denomination 'HALF DOLLAR' inscribed below in the upper field. The Latin motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' curves along the lower border within a decorative panel. The overall design evokes the historic Apollo 11 moon landing of July 1969. |
