| Obverse description | The crowned Portuguese royal arms occupy the central field, displaying the traditional escutcheon with five bezants arranged in a cross (the quinas) surrounded by the bordure of seven castles, all surmounted by an elaborate royal crown with floriate ornament. The denomination numeral 20000 appears to the left of the shield. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the design, separated from the toothed border by a plain rim, with small rosette stops punctuating the inscription. |
